Navodaya Vidyalaya Class VI Selection Test 2027
Admissions in JNVs are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) to Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and thereafter English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science. Students of the JNVs appear for board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Edn (CBSE).Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Presently the JNVs are spread in 27 States and 08 Union Territories. These are co-educational residential schools fully financed and administered by Government of India through an autonomous organization, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
According to the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme, one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is to be set up in each District in a phased manner. At present, 665 Vidyalayas are functional in 27 States and 08 Union Territories. The State/UT-wise distribution of functional JNVs.To provide good quality modern edn including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical edn to the talented children predominantly from rural areas.

Date of Exam: 28-11-2026 (Summer Bound, and Winter Bound).
Declaration of result: March/April,2027.
ELIGIBILITY:
1)The candidate has NEVER appeared in the JNVST examination in any previous year(s). 2)The candidate was promoted from Class IV and officially admitted to Class V in a RECOGNIZED school on or before 31st July 2026.
3)Born between 01.05.2015 to 31.07.2017 (Both the dates inclusive)
4)Spent/Studied full academic session in class III, IV and V
5)The candidate is applying only for his/her District of Residence and studying class V either in the same district or in a recognised school located in the neighbouring district with in a radial distance of 10 KMs.
6)The candidate is an Indian National.
7)Parents/Candidates have carefully read the official JNVST-2027 Prospectus and agree to its terms.
8)I possess a valid Aadhaar Number for the candidate OR a valid Parent Residence Certificate issued by a competent Government Authority.
9)If the candidate/parents affirm and declare that the candidate is fulfilling all the above eligibility conditions then click the box given below. (Yes/No).
Procedure to register online for JNV Selection Test-2027:
The process for submission of application for JNV Selection Test has been simplified through online process. Registration can be done free of cost through the admission portal of NVS linked through https://navodaya.gov.in
Candidates & parents have to go through the notification cum prospectus and ensure the fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
The following documents in soft form (JPG format of size between 10 to 100 kb) may be kept ready for registration: Photograph

Aadhaar details/ Residence certificate issued by competent Government authority.
Basic details of candidate like State, District, Block, Aadhaar number, APAAR ID, PEN Number etc. are to be filled in the application portal.
The eligible candidates have to fill up the online form and upload the photograph along with signatures of both (candidate and his/her parent). The certificate should be uploaded in jpg format of the size between 10-100 kb only.
In case of candidates from NIOS, candidates should obtain `B’ certificate and he/she should be a Bonafide resident of the same district where he/she is seeking admission.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test-2027:
JNV Selection Test for admission to Class-VI in JNVs for the academic session 2027-28 will be held on 28th November, 2026 for Summer bound and Winter bound JNVs in single phase.
EXAM PATTERN:
Mental ability Test+Environmental Studies (EVS): 20+20 =40 Qusetons, 25+25=50 Marks Arithmetic Test: 20 Qusetons, 25 Marks
Language Test: 20 Qusetons, 25 Marks
Total: 80 Questions, 100 Marks
A separate OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet will be provided. Candidates are required to mark/indicate their answers at an appropriate place on the OMR sheet.
Only Blue/Black Ball Point Pen is to be used to write on the OMR Sheet.
The selection test will be of two-hour duration from 11:30 AM to 01:30 PM and will have 3 sections with only objective type questions. There are 80 questions in all for 100 marks.
A single test booklet comprising of all the three sections will be given to each candidate. Additional time of 40 minutes will be allowed for “Divyang students” (differently-abled students)
RESERVATION OF SEATS:
At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates provisionally selected from Rural Areas of the district.
There is no reservation for urban area candidates.
Remaining seats, after selection of rural candidates, following the reservation norms, are treated as open seats. These seats are filled on merit from both Urban and Rural Area candidates of the district as per selection criteria.

2)The reservations to the OBC candidates shall be implemented as per Central List. The OBC candidates not included in Central list should apply as General Candidate.
3)Keep the following scanned copies ready before start filling the application in JPG Format Only.
i)Candidate's signature. (Size of signature should be between 10-100 kb.)
ii)Parent's signature. (Size of signature should be between 10-100 kb.)
iii)Candidate's photograph. (Size of image should be between 10-100 kb.)
iv)Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS).In case of OBC category, only CENTRAL OBC certificate issued by the competent Govt. authority is accepted. (Size of image should be between 50-300 kb.)

Issue of Admit Cards:
The admit cards will be made available as per date decided by NVS in due course which will be displayed on application portal. The admit cards shall be downloaded free of cost by the candidates/parents before the conduct of JNVST-2027.
Result of the Selection Test:
The result of JNV Selection Test-2027 is expected to be announced by end of March, 2027. Candidates can get their result from the application portal. The result will also be displayed in the offices of the concerned website of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti www.navodaya.gov.in
Please Note:
A Candidate is allowed to apply/appear for JNVST only once. During verification of the registration Data, if it is found that the Candidate had applied/appeared in previous years, the Candidature of Candidate will be rejected.
